Frequently Asked Questions

What is The Thursday Table?

The Thursday Table is a monthly gathering where people share a meal, build authentic friendships, and enjoy meaningful conversation. Whether you’re new to Virginia Beach or have lived here for years, there’s always room at the table. We’d love for you to join us.

Who is it for?

Anyone 21 or older looking to enjoy a great meal, meet new people, and have meaningful conversation.

Whether you come alone, with a friend, or as a couple, you’ll be warmly welcomed.

Is this a church event?

Not exactly,

The Thursday Table isn’t a church service. It’s a community dinner inspired by the biblical practice of hospitality. People of all backgrounds and beliefs are welcome.

Do I have to know someone?

Not at all.

Many of our guests attend their first dinner without knowing anyone. We intentionally create a welcoming environment where conversations happen naturally.

What does a typical evening look like?

  • Arrive, grab a seat, and meet new people.

  • Enjoy a thoughtfully prepared dinner.

  • Share in guided conversation around the table.

  • Relax, laugh, and build meaningful friendships.

Most evenings last about two hours, but you’re never expected to stay the whole time.

Is this speed dating or networking?

Neither.

The Thursday Table isn’t about selling yourself, collecting business cards, or finding a date. It’s about slowing down, sharing a meal, and building genuine friendships.

Is there a cost?

Most dinners are free

Occasionally, we host special dinners with a small fee to help cover food and venue expenses.

Any cost will always be listed on the event page before you register.

Where are dinners held?

Locations vary throughout Virginia Beach.

We gather in a variety of welcoming spaces around the city. Each event page includes the location address and parking information, and everything you’ll need before you arrive.

Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely!

The Thursday Table is even better when shared. Invite a friend, and just have them register as well so we can save everyone a seat.

What should I wear?

Come as you are.

Most guests wear casual or business casual. We simply ask that your clothing be appropriate for a shared community dinner (for example, no swimsuits or tank tops).

Still have questions?
